The Barber

The little village where I am from was shielded by big branded everything. There wasn’t any Guccis, Pradas or any luxury. Everything was affordable to any normal day today person. The supermarket and the farm were the Sunday shopping destination for moms and dads to get their weekly or monthly groceries and their list often included in basic, fresh and nutritious food which are essential. There was no big malls in the town but there was a little shopping complex with a few 20 to 30 shops all smaller than your living room. There was a stationary shop, pharmacy, gift shops, grocery shop, three barber shops and several other different kinds of shops. But my emphasis goes to one specific barbershop. It is true that I buy goods from many regular shops in this complex but this specific barber shop was my favorite. Ever since I could recall my memories as a child who moved to this city different shops came and went in this shopping complex but this specific barbershop was here ever since I ...

The Jerry

“Can I have a shot of Jack Daniels on rocks?” This was my usual words to my favorite bartender Josh on those tiresome Friday evenings. “Rough day huh?” Josh gave me my order and started wiping the counter. “You have no idea Josh. Every single day I got my Boss busting my balls over a file or other. My job is a nightmare.” “Well, I know my customer” Josh said while refilling my shot. He knew I needed least 4 shots to get my system back on normal track. “We all got work place violence and shit.” “True. Yet I am the one who have to get the food on my table. Not the guy wearing a 10000 dollar Armani suit driving a BMW. My boss doesn’t give a shit about the company. He got his savings on major stocks. Sometimes I think he gets this sick pleasure of henpecking me.” “Sounds like a real tragedy king dude.” Josh said while leaning over the counter. “But still I think he’s better than my ex wife.” We both wore the smile of complaining on women. I gulped down the last drops of my s...

The Swing

It was late when the girl and the tall guy took the walk in the Vuotry park. It was no romantic place for couples with the -1 weather and the slight breeze. There weren’t much people in the park. Only a couple of people who were leaving. “You seem a little weird today” The girl said while grabbing the tall guy’s hand and pressing it against her bosom. “Are you alright?” “Yeah I am okay” The guy said while walking slightly faster than the girl. “What’s the problem with you?” The girl asked while catching up with him. “We need to talk. You are so bipolar. We just came from that party and you were talking and laughing with your friends, ignoring me completely. Why are you being like this?” The couple felt another cold breeze. The girl pushed her jacket zipper till her chin and grabbed the guy’s hand. He    resisted.    “Okay I know you are ignoring me. I can feel that. At least tell me what’s wrong? Did I do anything?” The guy chuckled. “What was that?” ...

The Ferrari, Kid and a Phone

We lived in a pretty normal suburbs intended for middle class working families. There was my brother, me and my dad. Both my parents had pretty solid jobs. My dad was a lecturer at a university and my mom was a doctor. This could’ve been the perfect family with enough capital for all of us to live comfortably. But it wasn’t the economy that was bothering us. It was my parents.                                                                          My father was a well-mannered man with principles of his own but my mom was not the same. She was an unpredictable woman. She was talented in arts and crafts as well as his doctor prac...

Metro

When I got to the Beloruskaya station it was already getting late. I looked at the time. It was 11.45pm. By 10pm most people are gone home and the only people you will find are the night dwellers, long journey completers and couples who like to enjoy the night breeze. I wasn’t in any hurry to go home since I had already done what I wanted to do that day. However I missed my bed and like every other human, I wanted to rest my bed on the divine comfort of my pillow. I took out my phone and checked for any messages or calls. It was about 12C and I was wearing my jacket. I started ransacking the pockets to find my earphones because the sound of the metro wagons screeching on the tracks was not my favorite music to listen. Finally I found the earphones and they were all tangled up as usual in their natural habitat. I started to untangle them carefully and I was almost done when I heard the screeches of an arriving metro train. I put the earphones back into my pocket and walked closer to th...
